highline retro-fitted yes ive finally done it.
« on: January 28, 2009, 08:29:11 pm »
hi all been wanting to do this for ages but not found a suitable cluster for the job,  until I met Andrew(Norbreck21) he had the 2005 cluster but Vw said they would do the job for him as long has he bought a new cluster from them...any way to cut a long story short I got the cluster from Andrew(thanks again Andrew :happy2:)  And got onto VWVortex and more specifically Malooshecks highline thread and fitted the cluster I now have a full functioning highline cluster.

Sorry about the size of the pics but dont know how to down size them or put them on a thump pic.

Darren

No worries Darren, only too pleased to help.

You do know that you might be helping me with mine don't you ?

p.s. we'll need to arrange collection of the unwanted cluster as VW want this at point of order for the new cluster. I'll give you a bell later in the week and hopefully sort something out.

Looking good matey !

Sorry, but she deffo needs a good wash mate.  :happy2:

Had a look through my golf brochure and sales booklet and I can't find anything with regards to a list of whats on it.

I f I remember I'll try and list what's on the highline tomorrow at work.

So have you found an early R32 yet or are you settling for the GTI?  Eitherway I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Cheers,

Wayne

Mate, highline is something I wanted. How much is it?
Still awaiting for the group buy for vagcom and there's been no result so far.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

id say it would be a dealer only job due to the age of your car.
the newer models are near impossible to code (immobiliser) due to obvious security reasons with swapping clocks.

The older models 2005-2006 are doable with something like vag commander. As far as im aware, the immobiliser tools available for newer models, just isnt up to the job yet.

there are solutions available, but they cost a fortune.

so basically..it will cost about 250-400 for your clocks from the dealers, then about 1-2hrs labour for coding the clocks.

it should only take a dealer 15-20minutes to do but they will charge you more.

would be nice to know what highline includes ontop exactly

i've yet to try a gti dsg, so can't comment yet, although the r32 dsg seems class, but if i go this route need to hold out for the right one.

in both cases they would be earlier examples, as gti will be around budget and r32 abit over and into savings etc. if it was the right one would dip into the savings a little, otherwise need it for other stuff.

only thing which an earlier gti needs is remap, dv, cambelt and waterpump done, so i would say a £1k budget for that and that could be £1k ontop of the gti to help fund the r32
