Review - Miglior Detailing Leather Cleaner & Protector
« on: September 24, 2011, 07:26:11 pm »
After doing some research on the tinterweb and asking around various forums i was baffled as what to use to clean the leather in the car. I had heard all sorts from hot damp cloths, APC, leather feed, Pledge (yes the furniture polish!!). So i gave up and asked our very own Detailing guru Jay what he recommended. He told me he did his own kit which he uses on all his details, and after seeing the results i thought i'd give it a bash.

This is what you get (everything except the plush drying towel at the bottom, the kitchen units, plug socket and tiles )

Now although my car is only 3 months old i have already done just over 7.5k miles in it which is a lot of arse shining on the seats. The shine is basically the dirt on the leather and not the leather itself. This was the drivers seat to start with

Nice and shiny which is not what i wanted. So i set about cleaning half the seat base following Jay's instructions. Here is a 50/50 shot (sorry the pics are not brilliant as i was using the pie phone) You can easily see the difference though.

Thats a lot of Farts right there

So i cleaned the rest of the seat base and Voila here is the finished seat

Just to compare the two side by side

I can only describe this stuff in two words - Fcuking awesome :happy2:

Big thanks to Jay for the quick delivery of it and for the advice :notworthy:

Do any of the products smell like dead cows (ie that fake leather smell)?

Did you apply the "protect" stuff? What did you think of it?

I was >this< close to PMing Jay when I realised I had a leather cleaning kit from Autoperfection. Maybe Jay could tell us how it differs from the LTT kit I have?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

There was no smell from it at all. If you stick your nose in the bottle then yes you can but whilst using on the seats you can't and you can't afterwards. I sniffed the seat to see if there was any smell and they just smelled like the did the day i picked the car up

I did use the protect stuff as well and it is literally just a wipe on leave for 10-15mins and then buff off with a Microfibre cloth. No shine etc as it seams to absorb into the leather.

Thanks for that Carl and I'm glad you like it.

My kit at £40 includes 500ml of product.
250ml cleaner
250ml protect
+ cleaner sponge + protect applicator + Mf cloth

For £46 from ltt you get
150ml cleaner
150ml protect
150ml maintain stuff.
+ cloth
+

It's all a matter of opinion of which to go for, but IMO I'd rather sell an all out cleaner in 250ml and an all out cleaner in 250ml, Rather than send less dedicated products and send a compromise maintenance product. The maintain stuff isn't an awesome cleaner or protector. I'd rather it was done right and you have more of the focused products to hand.
I can just imagine the kind of person who wants a proper leather solution wouldn't really bother with a middle of the road cleaner/protector. I never do and just do it right with the cleaner an protect once a quarter.

Sorry to ramble, glad you liked the products

In that case Jay, PM me your paypal and I'll send you some dough.

Is the foam reusable?

You really only need a little bit stealth. I put about an inch in the Applicator bottle and only used about a quarter of it to do all the seats, door cards, arm rest and steering wheel. It comes out in quite a thick foam that spreads well. The Protector will probably last forever as you really only need a small bit of it.

I meant the foam block. Last time I used one, I had to chuck it away.
