pumps sell for peanuts on ebay, I know you don't get a warranty but if it is cheap enough who cares

Golfman bought a pump for £50 a few years back and it is still going strong

vw ended up doing mine for free in the end... Changed the pump, as well as doing a full service and even providing me with a courtesy car...

Would 99.9% not be this fault with BOTH lights. That would indicate a faulty sensor or something.

G201 fault which is a warranty issue.VW are obliged to fix as it is an "inherent" fault
If your dealer is unhelpful you should ask them for the vw customer services address in order to get clarification regarding the G201 ABS fault
I contacted my dealer by email stating I was well aware of the fault
They booked the car in and had everything done that morning
Before leaving the car ask if the ABS will be replaced or repaired as a repair kit is available and
not sure how reliable it is
£155 for the revised pump sounds very cheap

I just got the dreaded light and a scan confirmed the G201 error so I guess I will need a new pump, not taken it to VW yet though.

Is there just one pump on the cars, or is it one for each wheel?

The BBA Reman service is my first though - if I removed my pump I can get it repaired by then then sent back to me?

Is removing the pump difficult? Are there any guides? I don't have many tools and have no way of lifting my car. My thoughts are that if the tools etc. cost under £400 or maybe even more, then its a saving.

It's quite easy, take the battery and battery tray out, takes about an hour.

Tbh mate....judging by the questions you ask..it would be best for you not to mess with your car..bring it to a local garage and they can sort it for in around 300 quid i would guess...2 hour job for someone in the know!!

Took me 3 hours to change mine

I reckon I could do it in 2 now that I've done one

apart from the changing of the pump

Full brake bleeding

You will need to do basic setting, check the adaptions channels are correct and re-code the module with VCDS

While i was selling my 05 gti the g201 fault occurred.  VW fixed free of charge without question even though it had been serviced at a specialist for the past 4 years.

They said I had to pay for a scan, if it came back as this fault, vw automatically pay the whole lot.  No charge at all in the end and they did everything the same day.  I already knew it would be this fault as it had been scanned by my specialist so was no risk.

Shocking some dealers don't help out.  I did mention it had been on watchdog when asking about it

It recently had a service and had new brake discs and pads and caliper on rear.  Then I had to go back because the front caliper seized and they needed replaced and pads on front too.
You think any of that could be linked?  Am gonna go arrange for someone to see it tomorrow.  But am not sure about the garage who done the service as Ive spent £1000 there since the service a month ago on new parts and labour and still needing to go back for more work!

Also the car is a bit slow to start on cold mornings, I wondered if the battery might be needing replaced and that could be linked, no?

Suppose these are questions to tell someone who looks at it!  but good to be armed with a bit of knowledge beforehand
