Service and Fuel Pump
« on: September 20, 2011, 08:58:21 am »
Hi, I have a standard 56 plate GTI. It's due for it's annual service next month, but I've only covered 3500 miles since the service last year, as I now travel by train for my job. Although the car is now hardly used, I can't think of selling the car. So a couple of questions:
1. Is it worth getting it serviced for just 3500 miles (it is not due for a major service). Although I would like to keep the log book up to date.
2. My log book is stating that the fuel pump needs servicing (I take it that means replacing it). I can't see that this has ever been done on my car. What are the benefits of this and any idea of costs

Any help would be appreciated.... Cheers,

Andy

I only do about 4k miles/year but still have it serviced annually.

Are you reading your info correctly as the hpfp doesn't require servicing; maybe it's the fuel filter your talking about?

What mileage has the car done?
Without traction power is nothing!

You are probably right I tink it is the fuel filter that needs replacing. The car has done 41k, and the last service was a big one with the Cam belt and water pump being replaced. I'm erring on the side of getting it serviced just to keep the log book upto date. The air con has never had a service so I may as well get that done as well....

Cheers for the info.
