Dom, use another dealers. Had a car in today  (mk4 golf 1.9) that had been to them for 3 DAYS to diagnose a boost fault (would cut out all boost under load at 3600 rpm)

Did a quick run up the road to datalog and at the split second before it hit 2000mb the map sensor signal would go flat and then immediately into limp mode. Removed map sensor from the intake pipe and connected it to my hand pump and watched the live data from OBD port, gave it 2500mb and same happened, would only read 1980mb.

£12 later and a new map sensor = fixed.

Dealer had spent 3 days with it and diagnosed a new turbo was required, fitted cost £1240  :signLOL: thats an oversight of around 1000%. they had charged him £240 for this diagnosis, he is going back to them to attempt a refund.

LOL

It really pi$$es me off when so called "technicians" do their fault diagnosis by getting the customer to pay for substitutions that aren't needed.
Best of luck getting a refund from the drongoes.

Regards,

John

Excellent! I'm sure they will love reading that and realising they are wrong.

Car still chucking out black smoke, although big blue clouds aren't as often, but it has got 2 cats on now compared to a sports cat.
I also got a fault code saying the electronic load sensor has an intermittent fault, which I've never had that code before

005699 - Please check DTC Memory of Electric Load Controller
P1643 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

All other modules were error free, this was in the engine controller section, as soon as it's erased it reapears

Ross tech says: When found in 2.0l TFSI (AXX/BPY/BWA etc.), check Steering Wheel Electronics for Cruise Control related Fault Codes and general Cruise Control Functionality. See TPI 2017317 for Details

Well I found the fault

00895 - Cruise Control Switch (E45)
        014 - Defective - Intermittent

Cruise control switch still works fine? Looks like I'm going to need a new stalk for it  :stupid:
It just comes back when I clear both of them so must be broke.....

why not code out cruise for the time being should allow you to clear the code and remove the issue while you sort the other bits out?

5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons. Retrofitted - Cruise, RNS 510, MFSW, Armrest, Skoda BT, 6cd changer, Monza II's, VW speaker upgrade kit, Lux pack, High-line, new CAN gateway, Polar FIS info display, R32 tinted rear lights, RVC

To Come...NQSBBK, highline CCM.

First thing I tried but kept on coding it incorrectly
I'll try again tomorrow, I guess I'll put the right number in eventually!

It's now max ing out at -3.8 with a stage 1 map and 97ron fuel and  all stock parts on? Used 0.65ltrs of oil in 500miles, so within vw guidelines. Overboosting to a max of +200mb of boost, which is also within vw guidelines.
The only thing that is wrong is still got black soot on tailgate, and stage 1 map requests 121bar of fuel pressure for some reason? It put a nice smile on my face with the stage 1 map after being stock for weeks!
Al least your getting somewhere with your car eh!

Surly it shouldn't be overboosting?
