Yeah I'll keep u all posted. Always wanted to get it mapped. I've had it on the rolling road before and it came in at 147Bhp standard. So hoping to gain 50bhp!!

Well on the way home i found it interesting as I had a civic type R on my arse and i kept toying with him lol pulling away easily. Found that quite fun ha, usually doesnt happen then a focus st came past and i tried to keep up but at 225bhp i wasnt near it lol.

Much better response and theres not any lagging as yet. Jim at star said the car needs to bed into it so take it easy for a couple of days but already i can see the difference and the fuel is better, usually i get about between 48 and 56 on motorways but it was sticking up at 58 average. So that was nice.

The EP3 model (2002-2006) very rarely make 197bhp as standard - some as low as 160bhp, the 2007 onwards are usually bang on (I've had both the old & the new  :happy2:)

The lack of torque will mean they will struggle to keep up with a torquey TDI which has roughly the same power   especially if your already moving

You have to be a VERY good driver to get the most of a type-r, if you change gear to early you will miss the power band  :sad1:

It was fun anyway. He kept coming closer and even tried to undertake me lol but i kept pulling away and you could see him trying. Good fun but wont make the mistake of a making it a habit or my clean lisence wont be clean for very long.

I've not heard of a k20 making much if any less then its quoted figure :-s

I agree with you about driving them properly to keep it in vtec though, that takes a bit of getting used to!

Back on topic...car looks great. I'm seriously thinking about swapping the GTi for a diesel!

Car looking sweet. I got a 140 pd  leon and from a rolling start a type r only edges in front. These pd140's are very impressive once maped.

That's what the chaps at TDI north recon (Warrington CTR specialist). Also at the Feb JKM dyno day, an EP3 only made 187bhp - the owner wasn't impressed
