ED35 Spec
« on: September 23, 2011, 11:35:14 am »
Thinking off a reason why not to buy a ED35 ?

3DR DSG in Steel grey with dark grey 18" wheels. I would have specd BT and Xenons  but they are now std fit along with Highline ,, I cant get my head round the £2K+ FOR THE NAV ???????. List price is £29200 and I have left the sales guy trying to sort me a decent deal ,I want to trade my 2yr old Merc c class sport its only done 8k and has lots off extras ,I explained I wont be giving it away so it depends on what they can come up with .

How easy to retrofit the RNS510 in a mk6 , I am thinking I could pick one up for around £600 from the sales board on here . Spend the rest on some sexy brakes

All sounds good to me, if you want it get it. The nav should be easy peasy to retro fit.  :happy2:

Not sure about the aerial but I would imagine it will be different.

As for the car, if you can afford it then get it!  :happy2:

The MK6 doesnt have an aerial un-less you have nav so you wouldnt be able to retro without drilling.  Also the heafty NAV cost is I think due to the BT in question thats included is the one thats built in to the stereo so when you update to the RNS 510 to keep the BT they will have to install the secondary module for BT so there is a lot more gear required.

you need to check how they are providing the BT but my understanding is its via a radio unit that has BT included within the hardware 315 or 310 variety and so if you swop it out for an RNS then I think you will loose the BT without installing a separate BT module.

As far as the shark fin is concerned you can use the puck type antennae as £2k is way over the odds for RNS 510 not sure if you could get a shark fin installed without a nav but that would make it much easier.

Hi as regards BT and std radio ,The spec off the ED35 seams quite generous as in Highline plus BT also Xenons all as std you get the Multi function wheel with DSG ,If I buy one it has to be grey metallic in 3dr with dsg.

I have had a quick look on line today and there appears to be deals available so I will wait for the local VW guy to come up with some numbers to change out off the Merc

The extras on ED's always seem to be worth a lot more than the extra it costs over the GTI. Just get a deal and enjoy!
Sideways yo!

The only option i would spec on a brand new Ed35 is the colour screen and retro fit anything else i wanted. But the standard spec is pretty darn good anyway. Just wish i could have afforded to get one of them instead of the Polo GTI.

Deako, what's happening to the Scirocco?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Returned it. Still ongoing probs and the gearbox wasnt fixed with the clutch packs. So we effectively rejected it. We were offered the chance to swap it for something else at work, but there wasnt anything else i wanted with a comparable spec really.

So we have now ordered a Polo GTI. Although, i wish i could have stretched to an Ed35.

That sucks mate. Hope the Polo GTI makes you happy where the Rocco didn't.
