Hi all, might be a stupid question but I have just bought some black Detroit wheels to go on my GTI and was wondering if anyone knows if I will have to inform my insurance company as the car will be slightly different to standard?? :happy2:

YES!!

Tell them everything! Trust me, been there, done it, spent the last month sorting out a claim after writing off my golf.

Chances are, if you don't tell them its a way out for them to void your policy in the event of an accident. Never hide anything from them no matter how small.

After my accident, they went out to actually check the car, and visited me at home....

I notified my insurers, Hastings direct, today of painted 17" stock, tinted rears and HID aftermarket and my premium was not increased.

Just playing devils advocate here but where black detroits not an optional extra on the GTI? Which "technically" means its a factory extra so does not need to specified on your insurance?
