....So much so that I've had to ask VWR to setup my rear suspension again

I had a senior moment and left it at the TTshop when Jonny and I were playing musical Recaros there. It'll get sent to me in due course with their next delivery to me (expected soon).

Top Notch Robin... They really look good.

And the previous OEM GTi ones (above somewhere) look good too. Having been looking at second hand Audis and VW's recently, I've been really put off leather having seen how badly is sags on what are still relatively new cars. The grey cloth and Interlagos fabric look really good and guaranteed not to sag.
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

I'm intending to vinyl wrap the glossy backs with 'carbonskin' so they'll have this kind of look : -

They're like this at the moment : -

This is an alternative : -

^ carbonvinyl the lower panels ^

Or could do both? You'd then see it when the front doors are open.

+1!!!

Love the carbon seat look.. Wish I had the extra £1850 so that I could have upgraded to the carbon versions of the Pole position, only 4.5kg each too lol..

Although it wouldn't be real carbonfibre and only vinyl, the stuff which is now on the market is absolutely up to it - Especially for something like a seat back or interior trim. [says he who has always said in the past that he doesn't like anything imitation!]

....

I'm off this afternoon to see someone who does it. Will report later.

I've decided (I think!) I'll go carbon mains only as it relates more closely to the original Recaro design - What's black will stay black but carbonised black.

....

Visited Raccoon today and am extremely impressed indeed. They've been looking for a high standard 'carbon' vinyl and the first roll is coming next week. The sample I saw was awesome - Not only does it have subtle and slight waviness in the weave but also a very slight and subtle texture. And it picks up the light reflections according to shape.

It's a bit like VWR's real carbonfibre as opposed to the deeply lacquered from OSIR.

I'm still waiting for the Interlagos sample but, assumimg it's good enough, my upholsterer can't do the job until June anyway - He's got 2 VW Campers (one split screen show car) to finish. So it's carbon vinyl my Recaro backs and door trims first. At least it spreads my costs.

Why not change on the rear seats instead??
The r32 are soo much nicer to look at IMO.  :happy2:

....

As many of you already know, I have recently bought jonnyc's Recaros for my GTI. But being R32 cloth they do not match my Interlagos pattern cloth of the rear seats. So, rather than change my back seat covers to R32 to match the Recaros, I much prefer to change the front Recaro's covers to Interlagos. Easy you might think - Just look up the part #'s on ETKA, but no!

My chassis/build is 2006 and then they were a VW factory option. Also, VW dropped the Interlagos option in the GTI (to many people's annoyance) - Why I'll never understand. I spent hours today with my VW dealer's parts guy searching ETKA which told me that my car from its chassis number has "anthracite" but with "RZ" trim. There is no mention of Interlagos, nor on ETKA for Jonny's 06-build GTI which is now owned by Regal and which had Recaro Sports with Interlagos. His is ETKA listed as "anthracite" and "RZ" too.

No-one seems to know what "anthracite" refers to (it's in the Description column) nor if "RZ" is Interlagos or refers to something else. The part #'s are currently out of stock anyway!

My dealer is saying that if he orders it and it's wrong, he can't return it - I think I need to talk to someone above him on that. I'm beginning to take the view that as a customer I don't even have to know any of the ETKA gobblygook but that I want the Recaro Sports Interlagos GTO covers and the part # is not my problem.

An alternative is to try and get some Interlagos cloth (extremely difficult) and get a professional car upholsterer to alter the R32 covers.

If anyone has any helpful information or contacts, I'd be grateful :happy2:

Over the top mod list ;o)

....That would be my second choice if I can't some Interlagos cloth (hopefully any day now). The R32 cloth is very nice indeed but I slightly prefer the Interlagos and it's also a very important component of the traditional GTI identity.
