Cleaning Tyre Advice
« on: September 26, 2011, 07:54:57 am »
What's the best way to tackle cleaning the tyres before applying a tyre gel type of dressing?  I was going to use some engine degreaser with a brush but this might be completely wrong so any advice would be appreciated?

Cheers

Andy

I use APC with a soft bristled brush, though Bilberry seems to remove a lot of dirt when cleaning the wheels.

As above TBH - when using bilberry on the wheels, there's usually some foaming up and when I clean the faces with my brush, I then use it on the tyre wall. Have never used a stuff brush so no idea whether that'd be more effective at taking out dirt.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

This is what I bought recently and I have found them to be amazing  :happy2:

I now have 2. One for the Bilberry cleaner and one Also for the Megs Tyre Endurance gel

These handles come with a Green Heavy Duty sponge and I use these filled with Bilberry. (£1.33 from Sainburys)

I bought a 3pk of No-scratch White refills (softer) for the tyre gel. (£1.58 from Sainsburys)

You get Great control using these, especially using the tyre shire gel. These seriously are great to use and for the price, they are def worth a try.
One tip is, if u find the no-scratch sponge a little too stiff, just use em for washing up for a week. They will soften up well and will transfer the tyre gel alot easier.
