I did have for a week, in fact the day I picked it up, Mark was taking the Evo test slicks off, and putting road tyres on, so I could use her.

Great great car.

Believe it or not, that car is surprisingly frugal as well.

I drove about 500 miles in her, mixture of A roads, Duals, B roads, traffic and no traffic, and returned about 33 mpg.  On the trip back to VWR, the traffic was heavy, but moving at about 60-65 and she showed me 36.  That was with a few sprited runs up to the speed limit!

Yes, I call her The Red Temptress - I have driven her on several different occasions and love that car as much as my own. She's totally practical and tactile - Everything a GTI should be.

Is this the same car that was at the GTI springfest? The one which looked like it as falling apart?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

When i had it, it has some others on, MTM's I think.  Still very nice.

By now it should have a slightly more compliant suspension on, they were going to change it when I gave the car back.
