Vw centre caps Lugs breaking AGAIN!!
« on: April 02, 2009, 11:22:52 pm »
Hey all  as above I came home from work tonight so thought I'd wash the 30   Got the Snow foam out and was a like a kid a christmas :jumpmove: (For all that haven't tried this yet I highly recommend it)  So after doing that I did my alloy's as per usual before doing the 2 bucket method! While rising my wheels clean the front passenger side centre cap fell out ! Soo I checked the plastic lugs and found 2 of them broken   This is my 2nd set of replacement caps as the same thing has happened before! My mate said he had the same problem with his mk4 r32!

Was just wondering if anybody else has suffered from this? Now when I'm at Vw on Sat to get my smooth grill and open mouth fog grills I'll need to get another cap  :jumping:

Dude, is this because of the high pressure aimed at them?

Don't have a pressure washer and mine are fine.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Not sure a pressure washer would have enough force to break the lugs off. More likely if you have had replacement tyres fitted when the cap was replaced after wheel balancing it was damaged then ?  :ashamed:
