My Reflex Silver progress so far
« on: October 03, 2011, 12:04:49 am »
I've had my baby for 2 months now so just thought I'd post an update on what I've done so far. Below is a list, pics following that.

Parrot MKi3200 bluetooth
Private plates
GTI footrest and seat inserts
GTI mats
Pipercross panel filter
R32 rear lights
Revision D DV
Revo stage 1 with SPS
Black grille badge
Rabbit badge
Golf ball gear knob

Spent a few bob on her already   I think I'm on the slippery slope  :surprised: Next on the list is some lowering springs (either Eibach sportlines or H&R's) and getting the indented part of the rear valance sprayed black. Luckily the previous owner had the splitter, side skirts and rear valance colour coded and the dealer had the wheels refurbed in anthracite, so that saved me doing it  :happy2: Anyway here are some pics.

From the dealer's website

The day I picked her up

As she is now

A nice start mate, should have saved you a few £ by the previous owner doing some of the little mods.
Rear bumper looks 100 times better with the black part around the exhaust.

Yeah it will definitely look better with the lower bit of the valance black like on Daboy's car above. Haven't got much spare cash right now to get it done but as soon as I've got a bit I'll do it along with the lowering springs. That's kind of it for my current list of mods, but don't know how long it will be before adding to the list again, especially hanging around here

I need to take some interior shots as I haven't got any at the moment. Will take some a bit later and post them.

Thanks mate. I got the mats from my local main dealer they were just over £60. The footrest and seat inserts were from ebay, here's the link.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK5-MK6-MKV-GTI-FOOTREST-PEDAL-R32-TURBO-/150665955530?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item23146408ca

The footrest I got was the glue down one but you can also get a screw down version.

A quick update. Just had a couple of small cosmetic tweaks done today. Had the diffuser section of the rear valance and the wing mirrors vinyl wrapped in gloss black. I've been planning to get the diffuser section done since day one but decided to also get the wing mirrors done, being inspired by the Mk6 R colour coding. Here's a couple of pics. Please excuse the crappy light - I'm a photographer by trade and would never dream of shooting anything for a client in this type of light but they are just quick snapshots.

Hi Jake

Great job on your car!  Love the wrap on the rear diiffuser and mirrors.  Did you do the wrapping or did you use a specialist?  I've got an Edition 30 and the diffuser and mirror wrap are pretty much the only cosmetic changes I'd like.  Where are you in UK?

Thanks

Hi mate, I got the wrapping done locally in North London. It was £160 for the diffuser and wing mirrors. A lot cheaper than getting it painted at a body shop and the finish isn't far off laquer, plus if I ever want to take it off I can - not that I will.

The place I had it done is part of a network in the UK, the website for all the branches is http://www.colourmycar.net/go/home
