Hmm I used to be determined NOT to end up like a Geek when reading Physics at uni... like those saddos who would write poems based on 'Pi' or make jokes laced with engineering metaphors    However, I've always envied the fact that I couldn't really relate subjects like Quantum Mechanics to everyday applications like you guys can.       

Ooooops sorry, put myself to sleep there    My mechantronics unit was dodgy from the start and after a year of putting up with it - kangeroo hops at low speeds - I had it replaced under warranty.

Part has now arrived, car is now running awful, eventually goes in on the 7th of April for possibly two days.

My eee degree specialisations had more stuff in embedded and comms, but I was interested in the mecha stuff. I sat through about four lectures before my brain gave up all I know to do is throw microprocessors at stuff

Well it's back home in the garage...

1/4 tank fuel used and 41 miles on the clock. 

Had a bit of a blast on the way home, but I did notice it didn't change down when I thought it would, so will see how goes tomorrow morning on the run to work...

Service Manager cleaned the car himself too

No blobs or crumbs under the seat VC...

Mechatronic units run for around £4k as I recall. Not sure if VW will replace one out of warranty (which I am - 82k miles!). Marvellously complex things.. I sat in on some mechatronics lectures in uni, crazy complex stuff. Cool for building robots.

£4k is for the whole DSG box, the mechatronics unit with software is a bargain at £1110 !!
