is that definately a fresh crack?

I'd be in the car park waiting for them to arrive in the morning :fighting:. if your 100% percent theyre to blame then don't walk away until they 100% fix it and demand to stand in a viewing area to watch the work, or at the least a new part and all associated work

that's disgusting. Mixit's 1st post on this thread is the right approach, shame to do it but it commands attention and therefore should make them take care as they know you'll be trouble otherwise. I'm well known at my local VW, but they still wash my car as the old boy doesnt pay attention he just 'cracks on' dispite my instructions

100% - I washed the car last weekend - & I would have noticed - as soon as any pressure is applied to the side skirt it moves....but you can't see it without getting on your hands & knees....I recon it's happened when jacking to check out the exhaust rattle...

I'm going to speak to them on monday but I'm not holding my breath...  I have a funny feeling they'll just show me the  :angry015:

I spose the only bonus is that it's on the underside & worst case I can repair it & no-one will ever see it....not the point I know - right cheesed off - funny thing is the misus has a new renault twingo & I took that for it's first service to a specialist cause our local dealer was .A. twice the price & .B. doesn't give too hoots - & they did a fantastic job....  If I wasn't tied into a service plan with VW it wouldn't be going back thats for sure....

when i took my golf in for its service they dent both siles in by not mounting it on the 2 poster...at first they tried to deny it but i told them it hasn't been jacked up any where else but at thier dealership,i got it repaired in the end...you get better service at a specialist garage as they take pride in thier work more
Hope you get it sorted ok

Spikey... This is really bad news mate. I know it seems a bit trivial and its under the car so you're not going to see it but the point is, it's there, you know it's there and it has nothing to do with your neglect or any DiY mess up.
Ask yourself how else could the damage have been caused? Simple answer is it is obvious its been caused by a jack or part of the lift feet. The dealership is responsible and it would be obvious to any service manager worth their salt that the damaged part should be replaced without question.

If the car has never had a puncture in its life, you could argue further that the vehicle has never had to be jacked up at all before. This also begs the question that if this silly, simple slip was made, what else could they have done in an unseen area of your car. I would tactfully put that to them as well.

If they don't resolve this situation for you, every time you wash the car you will think about it and IMO, that is tainting your ownership of the car. Only in a small way, but you'll feel it. Hope you get it sorted.

Right that's it this thread has made my mind up, mine is not going to the stealers for its first service which is due this week.
I shall be taking it to Votex, where they do what it says on the tin, or is that cuprinol  :chicken:

Tell them we did and now use another dealers as they didn't want our custom, but if they had resolved the issue in the first place and the dealership principal hadn't argued with us in the middle of his showroom they might just have got 1 out of 10 :angry015:...but the service at the new dealers is miles better :happy2:
Cheers,

Wayne

Hi All

Quick update:  Service manager back from leave but too busy to find the time to speak to me, & apparently no other manager is available to help.  Thats 4 separate calls to the dealer.

Call to VW customer services, quick explaination of the problem, & they seem to think it's my word against thiers, no surprise there then....but they are going to get the dealer to call me, well I wished her the best of luck with that....

Had the call this afternoon, after a prompt from VW HO.

They want to have a look at it, which is to be expected, but did slip in that they don't jack the car from the jacking points?  they do something with the chasis???  I'm a little lost there???

But I've just been out & had a look at the side skirt & there is an arrow on the underside, would i be right in thinking that was where the car should be jacked from?  & if so there is a seam about an inch inside, on both sides, the underseal/dirt has been distrubed from I guess jacking?
