Opinions on ITG maxogen and Forge twintake please.

Thinking about getting either the ITG maxogen or Forge twintake for my gti but want to know peoples views on them. Is one better than the other or is it down to personal choice, do they work the same way? Is one much louder than the other or about the same? Do they produce similar gains?

I have read a review where someone said they found the ITG hard to live with for normal day to day driving, ie when driving round town. Apparently the car feel like its lagging unless if driving at high speeds or nailing it everywhere. That put me off a bit but wanted to hear other peoples opinions on it. Also read that fuel economy goes down considerably compared to standard.

Price for both is basically the same just cant pick one.

Im in pretty much the same situation as you.

My choice is the twintake. As you say there isn't alot in the price so I've put my choice down to looks and I've seen good results from it!

Personally preferences mate 

Maybe someone has had both on here? Try having a quick search

All my experiences of dealing with Andy Jackson at ITG have been very very good!

Even with me living in Germany he has been very accommodating!

I run the ITG maxogen and although a noisier might not be for everyone it really performs!

On the other hand if buying the forge (which looks lovely & is on par with ITG)  enter sc10 if ordering online for discount  from forge

I think I'm slowly edging towards the twintake too, prefer one with less noise. My gf (Mandy) got hers for £320 so that might help sway my decision too.

I honestly really havent noticed that effect.  I know Zboyd on SCN said he switched to the Twintake because he had the effect youre talking of at low speed / town driving.

I recently heat reflective wrapped the metal piping of my ITG and have a cold air feed pipe, it may make a small difference.

I easily get (when the car isnt poorly & driving sensibly) 34mpg on the drive to work of 23miles

I was in the same boat a few months ago

I went with the twintake as it's a closed filter, closed filter means "less" heat soak wich means more reliable power (very small tho) in most circumstances

My twintake makes awsome noise, my friends jokes saying he can see the trees bending in as it sucks the air in 
Being closed doesn't give you much growle but lots and lots of natural engine noises like chatter and turbo whistle 
I have nothing against the ITG and it's a great unit but for my needs the twintake won the pros and cons

The ITG ain't loud at all (cartainly queiter than the dbilas I had before), you only hear it when pressing on, and I've had no lag issues at all.

What's put you off?    Theres lots said / reviews on the ITG if you do a search on the forum

TBH, you can't go far wrong with any of the ITG, Twintake or Evoms varieties.

Twintake for me, even tho I've heard the ITG and it's not bad either!

Never knew the Twintake is made by Pipercross tho for Forge!
