I am totally devastated this morning waking up to the news. Cant believe how sad i feel. A true legend, visionary and hero for the tech industry. His enthusiasm and dedication even with the adversary of his health to battle with stick with me forever. He touched our hearts and our minds with his incredible devices. A truly sad day for the whole world.

Stock price in this case is a reflection of how important Jobs was the company.

Maybe, but it's still a pretty crass statement in my view, somewhat lacking in sensitivity!

Andrew,

On the face of it such a statement certainly lacks great sensitivity. However, we all know how easy it is for the written word on a forum to be either misinterpreted or ambiguous. Let us give jediknight83 the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he would like to edit his post.....  Hopefully on an Apple device!

It's bizarre, but only last night my Dad used FaceTime to call me on the iPad I bought him for his 60th Birthday last week. I remember thinking it was a testament to Apple that that phone call happened.

I wonder if he knew it was coming and that's why he resigned?

He had pancreatic cancer and needed a liver transplant so he wasn't well for many years.

He fought valiantly and bravely since 2003. Still on stage for the OSX and iOS Keynote at WWDC 2011 in spite of his illness. A true hero among men.

Very sad day, I don't like iPhones these days because of the restrictive nature in the OS however he has changed the world as we know it which is amazing. His vision and determination is something we can all look up too, true legend and inspiration!

RIP, Don't know where i'd be without some of his companies products, shame the last thing he saw of his company was people moaning about them not releasing the iPhone 5.

My comment was hardly 'crass' or in poor taste. Simply showing that basically .. He was Apple. Yes its run by other people now but I wouldn't be surprised if we see them lose their way with products for the next few years.

The 4s launch was somewhat muted without him. Notice Tim Cook didnt get a standing ovation.

At first I thought it was a bit much people saying 'he changed the world' but then thinking about it... I got the CNN news alert pushed from the Apps on my ipad2 and my iphone4 at the same time before it was even on BBC or Sky news sites. I then logged on and made a few posts on my MBP connected to my 24" Apple Cinema screen... all of which are connected to the internet via a Air Port express..... so yes... he has changed the way the world gets its information and changed the way I use the internet.

I think his best quote was when talking about focus groups

"It's really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them."

I was quite surprised about how sad I've felt all day about this. The world has lost a truly great man. He was an artist really who just happened to make computers. He was a man who spoke the truth and everything he said and did had resonance. If you have 15 mins spare watch this clip of his address at Stanford University, never a truer word said.
