Coding was a fixed price at my dealer, 27 quid, I got my key from eBay for 40.

Second that had my v5 beetle done as the remote stopped working and only worked inside the cab, and yes I did try the batteries before you all ask lol
Really do miss the mk5 Perelli rare breed of car
Audi S3 black edition 1 week old went wrong sent back to Audi
RS3 order cancelled bought C63 AMG PPP now sold after a year of expensive trips to kwik fit
New car BMW M135i loaded to the hilt

If you only need a blade you can buy one cut from ebay, send him a pic of your old key and he cuts it.

I was doubtful but after reading some reviews i tried it and the key works fine, just waiting to get it programmed now

You sent a picture of you car key and your address to some random person on eBay? I certainly wouldn't do that!

Key + blade - eBay                £40 (or less)
Key cut at local mechanics     £15
Coding at VW Leeds              £27 (part of there fixed price offers)
Total                                      £72

what sort of places does that?  i have tried "normal" key cutters and they wont touch car keys.

Pissed off, took my "new key" off ebay to my dealers to be coded today and they could not do it.

So £45 worse off and still no second key, just a cut blade. The key wont code in they tried 3 times and ive tried it and it wont work. Why not as it has internals

From a dealer on ebay, it said it was a complete key and has all the workings inside etc

Yeah, inc case/transponder. You probably got a used transponder, I don't think they can be re-coded
