Greeners new 5 Cylinder (non VAG) ride........
« on: October 06, 2011, 05:26:51 pm »
Well the dust hadn't really cleared from the Eddy disappearing and I was already scouring PH and Autotrader night and day for something to help fill the void!

As usual went through most makes and models, realising I really wanted another MK5 .:R (and couldn't quite stretch to one just yet). I continued my search until my eureka moment whilst looking at cheap Focus ST170's and happened upon the ST225. Now I for one had kind of forgotten about this little brute so was quite excited when I started reliving the demo cars I had back at launch and how much I'd enjoyed the popping and farting from the standard exhaust system. So the search was on!! I initially was looking for a red one but after seeing a facelift model in white at a main dealer I decided silver was the colour for me. Now I love the bright Orange version as they look stunning in the sun when clean, but decided I couldn't really be seen driving one so was happy to go for a more stealthy colour for my new ASBO!

So this was a few days after collection once I'd spent a more than an hour or two getting her up to scratch!  :rolleye:

She's an ST-3 (so all the toys) with 39k on the clock.

So to get her more to my liking I took her to Pumabuild in Brum for a full TB exhaust with De-cat (combination of Mongoose DP and Piper rear section as I preferred the RS looking tailpipes) and stage 2 remap!   Well the difference was noticeable to say the least!  :driver: The noise this thing makes is pure evil!!

Next up was a set of Eibach spring and the obligatory wheel refurb including 4 x new Continental Sport Contact 3's!  :happy2:

Got to say I'm very impressed with the car so far as it goes and handles far better than I hoped it would, and is very comfortable and surprisingly economical! Yes power wise she's lagging way behind the ED30 (around 290bhp) but for everyday use I feel that is more than enough.

A few little cosmetic jobs left to do but looking forward to bringing her along to a few meets and definitely the next Ring trip next year!  :driver:

Thanks for looking!  :drinking:

love the silver balls

Blimey!  :surprised:

Looking good Nath. Went out in a mates ASBO orange ST a few weekends ago. Interior was lovely! Sounded great too.   Lot of car for the money.

Edit due to having big fingers and piephone keyboard!

Looks nice Nath. Always liking the Focus'. Pretty much the only new Fords that are worth having imo.

Look forward to seeing how it performs at the ring next year.

Needs a new cooler. Coolers on them are piss poor. You will be ok in this weather. Be lucky to be putting out 290bhp with zaust and map, suppose the dyno lotto will come into play. Seen quite a few sh*t their pants at around the 320bhp mark. Good luck with the blue oval you can always start saving now for your next vag. Stevie.

My mate has an orange asbo with a de-cat and stage 2+ and can safely say it sounds absolutley mental with that exhaust and makes my non res milltek sound breathless

Burn him! Burn the heretic! BURN!!!

Just kidding. Slightly.

Looks pretty sweet. Silver's a cheater's colour. Means it doesn't show up dirt well! Hope you clean it as much as the Eddy!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
