Quick (sort of) DV question

If I was going to order a new DV from VW, would i get a diaphram type one or the piston type one that was originally for the TSI engine?
Also on the TSI engine, is the piston type DV turbo mounted like on the TFSI K03 cars?
The reason I ask is that ive been running a revision 'D' piston type DV for over a year now but on a K03 turbo. Now that Ive had a K04 conversion done and the DV relocated, ive noticed that my piston type DV is sometimes slow to respond and also doesnt like the pick up after a fast, maximum boost/revs gear change.  Basically it feels like it is sticking like my old forge DV did if i was a little too late on servicing it.  If I put my old diapham type DV back on (revision B), the car/boost/pickup is spot on.
I was wondering if the heat from the K03 turbo could of damaged the piston type DV if it was never designed to be turbo mounted  :happy2:

First of all, I have a Defi boost gauge, so it was easier to tell there was a problem when i had one.  
Basically, if i put my foot down in say 4th gear at lowish revs (2500 - 3000) sometimes it wouldnt boost past 12-15psi unless i backed off and put my foot down again. It was like the piston type DV, (wheather it was the forge unit or a VW one) was not fully closing/sticking and letting boost leak past it.  The forge unit was easy to sort out by stripping down and cleaning an regreasing every 5 to 10 k.  The VW one is easy to strip down, and appears to run dry, but with a special coating in the bore of the piston.  Ive cleaned the VW one a few times now and it seems good for around 1k and then the issues returns.  I must add, the diapham type to me 'feels' more smooth and quicker to respond, but we all know they dont like 24-25psi on a regular basis  :happy2:

I wonder if what you are describing is "flutter" that some k04s have depending on state of tune.

Thats the one i'm having problems with.  As for the K04 compared to the stage 2+ ko3?  Money well spent in my view, it is a night and day difference, especially 4.5k and above. :laugh:
I must say, my clutch is having no problems yet.  Not bad for the original one with 115k on it and being remapped from 18k  :happy2:

I get the flutter no matter which DV i use.  The revision 'D' piston DV definatly sticking in my view, i was just wondering because it was turbo mounted for such a long time, could the heat of damaged it if it wasnt designed to be turbo mounted like the diapham type was.

I assume you got your conversion from Awesome, did they do a RR for hp/torque output?

Yes, it was done by Awesome.  The  only figures i got is before i had the RS4 fuel return valve changed as my original one was bleeding off at around 125 bar and pulling the boost back as it wasnt meeting requested fueling.  It made 320bhp and 320 ib/ft. when not running 100 %.  It does feel stronger now by around 20-30 butt dyno horse power, but i feel the true output is being masked by my DV issue  :smiley:

Many owners of V.A.G vehicles equipped with the 2.0 TFSI engine, have unfortunately discovered that the OEM electronically controlled turbocharger bypass valve has some performance limitations.
This issue effects all 2.0 TFSI engines, however it is more of an issue on K03 turbocharger engines (200PS engine versions) where the diverter valve is bolted directly onto the compressor cover of the turbocharger itself - and is then directly subject to hot (pre intercooled) compressed air.If you are running increased boost pressures after a software remap, or the OEM valve is being subjected to high operating temperatures from hard driving, the life span of the OEM unit can be significantly reduced.

Guess the heat of my old K03 running Stage 2+ boost for over a year has affected my revision 'D' valve as well as is does the to diapham type.  Thanks Bacillus for the link.
