nice car but just buy a car that at stage 1 will out perfom it in every situation even with your mods ...RS MEGANE 250

Naaaaah!  :signLOL:

I'd rather have my limbs chopped off than buy any car by Renault/Citroen/Peugeot!
etto , the polo is a good looking car , and im a skoda fan but the latest fabia looks pants from every angle

Fair one, the Fabia does look fairly strange, but it did only cost £14k, and ive only spent £160 on mods ( Forge intake and battery), the rest ive had for free, so im over the moon.  And i reckon a meganne RS wouldnt keep up with me in a straightline till over 100mph.  (168hp/ton vs my 185Hp/ton, and thats before i fitted the IC, once i get the map done again im after 210hp/ton ).  then id slow down for the bend and just allow him to pass  .  Modified these things really really handle though.  As shown in this review
[pdf]http://goapr.com.au/media/mm-june2011.pdf[/pdf]

That said, by the time ive bought the coilovers, ARBs, brakes, poly bushes etc i could have had a megane RS250 sat on my drive which would have been nice, as they are the mutts nuts

How boring would renault forums be.

Build threads with no work in them just pictures of stock cars

I like modifying
renaultsport and meganesport.net are really good forums

Well heres an idea, how about you stay there then and stop trolling our forum with your drivel!!

Amazing what a low weight car can do on low speed corners. In all under 100kmh corners the Polo carries 3-4 kmh greater speed than the others while they claim back some time on the straights. I can only imagine what a 270HP Polo can do ! However, unlike Hurdy here, I won't go more than stage 1 with my Polo GTI since it's a city commute but I'll try to lower the weight of the Golf even more and keep it as a track car only !

Remember guys... "good will to all men" I don't mind the banter :santa: :happy2:

I've been thinking ( which is usually dangerous and nearly always expensive! :xmassmiley:). Without the upgrade turbo and with the uprated intercooler and radiator, plus water/meth I still reckon the Polo GTI will get between 250-260bhp. With some more weight reduction I reckon the car can easily get under 1,100kg, so we are still looking at a car with around 230bhp/ton and a lighter weight to tow around bends and out the other side.
A GTI MKV would need to have over 320 bhp to have the same power to weight ratio, but would still be slower around corners and out the other side.
Taking this into consideration, my revised plans are to reduce the weight further with bucket seats, lightweight bonnet, wing mirrors, removal of the supercharger soundproofing, LSD, even lighter alloys and some other tweaks like a front extended diffuser to help even more with cornering. In the meantime I will look at revised internal costs for pistons and rods and then go back to the uprated turbo and map at a later date and 300bhp+. the funds are there to do it all and more and I don't want to change cars as I love the car as it is already and any enhancements will just make it even better.

I could have had my choice of a lot of cars, but this has to have my widest in mind too, so on road usability is also important.

Merry Christmas guys :santa:

I agree John and this place is full of friendly banter! But the record has been stuck for so long with Candy now it's starting to wear a bit thin.......

Anyway enough cluttering up your thread!  :happy2: :santa:

Hurdy, when will you commence with the lightweight project and what will you be looking for first?
