Okay, well I bought some of the new gloss carbon fibre 3M wrap (I think it looks more like carbon fibre than the Dinoc matt stuff personally) and thought I'd try it out on the front badge of the Polo.

Whaddya think?

Sorry Hurdy ETTO, and i just can't find anything good about that. Does the same to me as a Coke Light; If it's light it ain't a coke, so call it something else. If it ain't Carbon then it's just imitation and nothing else

Over the top mod list ;o)

Never mind Jake, not everyone likes the same things. I put it on for something different rather than just paint it gloss black as the vinyl won't crack off with stone strikes ( a good thing for when I'm on track )

Quick 0-60mph video on a flat, damp uneven surface. Short shifted into 2nd and only used 5k rpm to avoid wheelspin on the damp surface. Video is only 6 seconds long and I stopwatched the video 0-60 as 5.6-5.7 seconds. With a dry even surface I reckon a sub 5 second 0-60mph dash could be achieved. Not bad for a little car. Enjoy

I truly believe a sub 5 second 0-60 is achievable on these without going to crazy.  As said before i was consistently hitting around 5.6seconds at Inters, which not only is a crap surface but it was damp(ish) and i was on standard Continental 2, 205/40 width tyres which arent exactly designed for 0-60 sprinting.  Sticky tyres and full use of 3rd gear and its a done deal i think....

Ibizaracebreak has already managed a sub 5 sprint with stage 1 although his was stripped out big style with R888s

Not seen vid. What's the quarter mile time like at the mo?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Stage 2 1.4TSI's are doing 13.4 to 14 seconds at the qtr mile depending on supporting hardware (tyres, weight reduction, intakes etc). Some stage 1 cars are still doing under 14 seconds too. I reckon I can get it down even further.  (water/meth and hybrid turbo should do it! )

Next year should prove interesting to see what time I get when I take it around the 'ring.  :driver:  if I don't break it first!!!! :signLOL:

Back to some serious stuff

I knew I wouldn't be able to resist for too long. Did some deeper investigation today about a hybrid turbo. New OEM turbo is £1100 +VAT and then looking like another £XXX for hybridising and then £XXX for custom software.

£XXX means basically I don't know how much yet.

With the rest of the planned hardware mods (intercooler, intake and water/meth) I'm looking at somewhere between 270bhp and 300bhp, but where between those figure is anyones guess   :rolleye:

To put this into perspective 270bhp on a 1.4 is the equivalent of 385bhp on a 2.0 litre car and 300bhp on a 1.4 is the equivalent of 428bhp on a 2 litre car - without internals!!!!
