All down to the fact that one has 230+bhp through thr front wheels, the other has 360+. So 1 can use 1st gear, the other can't..  :signLOL:

Not sure about john but I certainly can't use 1st without lighting up.the tyres.  Immediate short shift to second was the quickest way for me.  That's why I think there's so much more to come from the launch with better tyres a differential and launch control.

Johns has more power but with wider grippier wheels and less weight transfer due to his coiloversbut I'd imagine he is suffering the same as me

1st gear is used, but I can only launch with about 70% throttle and wait till second is engaged before putting my foot to the carpet. :driver:

Just read through the whole thread,  :notworthy: very impressive mate, are you thinking about stripping the insides like your ED30?

It may have the rear bench out from time to time, but it is mean't to be a daily usable project, rather than an out and out track machine.

If I get tempted back to having 2 cars, then who knows  :rolleye:

I haven't tried this launch control malarky in the S3, how do you do it, and will it damage the DSG box?

It won't damage the DSG. My record was 24 launches in one day at Santa Pod. The gearboxes are much tougher than you think.

Launch control should be in your car's handbook....
