Winter Tyres

Dunno if it helps but for the second winter running I have done some price research and then phoned my local tyre dealer who has pretty much price matched the web. We only ran one set of winters last year and have decided to get both cars onto winters this year.

This tyre dealer I use in the NE of England has I think 6 outlets, so are big enough to compete on price and yet small enough to do a deal, if that makes sense. So local places may be worth calling if anyone is still searching.

Both orders have ending up being specific orders direct from Continental but prices have been 'competitive'.

Right guys, I don't really want to spend much more than £100 per corner on winter tyres for my 18" Pescara's (I know you get what you pay for, but I only commute a few miles to work). For roughly the same price as each of these you can get a 16" steel wheel with tyre fitted but if they're going to be fitted for a few months, I don't really want it to look like someone has stolen my alloys!

Can anyone recommend any of these or a similar alternative?

When do you change over to winter tyres? When it's constantly less than 7 degrees or so?

I think this year I'll be looking for the forecast to be consistently below 5°C.

Well, I ordered tyres (for her indoors) last December, the snow then got bad that week so they had problems getting stock in and then getting couriers to collect orders.
It took about 10 days overall but the lad went out his way to get them sent as soon as the weather permitted. Due to this I was happy as it was out of his hands, especially as my postal area was one blacklisted by couriers for a couple of weeks last winter due to weather.

I don't know for sure what courier they used as I was out the country at the time and got it sent to my mates - I think it may have been TNT.

Seeing as you've ordered nice and early I think you'll have them pretty quickly

I picked up some vredestein wintrac xtremes from mytyres.co.uk... took just under 2 weeks to be delivered... I doubt it'll be too long now before they end up on the car.
