GTI World Edinburgh
« on: October 02, 2011, 09:58:45 am »
Hi,

Noticed that a few of you had been thinking of using GTI World Edinburgh.  Did anyone use them for a trade-in & if so, did you get a fair trade-in value?

Thanks.

they are a rip off ... look at the 06 plate Black GTI, the guy got just under £10k for it traded against a £19K R32, they are now selling it for £13,500.

I found them totally disrespectful when I went into look at a car

That was also my experience with them, regarding the trade-in.  I have a 18 month old car, which they were offering over £1k less than any other garage. :rolleye:  The trade-in value was so bad, that I called them back the following day to see if they had valued the correct model

I did find them to be helpful, but there was no way I was accepting the pitiful value they wanted to give me for my car.  It isn't as if their cars are any cheaper than other garages.

Still, there are plenty more choices out there.

Nothing wrong with 9.5k for an 06 plate px, that sounds quite reasonable to me !
And at 13.5 k re-sale good luck to them, i cant see anyone wanting that tbh!

If you want an example of a pisstake here we go, was in VW in Edinburgh around 2weeks ago. So thought I'd ask the guy what they'd offer me for my 54/2005 GTI, quick spec.

Red, 3DR. 82,000. Full VWSH
Xenons
MFD2 Nav
18" Monza II wheels, immaculate
Leather seats
Winter, luxury and convenience pack.
High line

Cars pretty much immaculate inside and out, has every option apart from park sensors, DSG and a sunroof

They offered me........ £3500 Could not believe it, never been so offended

They offered me £9k for my civic Type-S which was £500 more than any other garage had offered me in central Scotland, and £750 more than Parkers' p/x value, and that was with a dented drivers door and wing in need of repair...only £800 shy of my settlement figure, which I considered not bad!

On the downside, they seemed very unlikely to budge on their windscreen prices.

I think that perhaps I was too enthusiastic during the test drive & being female I must look gullible too.

The exact same spec of my car is for sale at the moment from between 11k & 12.5k & they wanted to give me 9k. :rolleye: No chance.
