Diverter Valve!
« on: October 11, 2011, 12:14:38 am »
Hi guys!

Just completed changing my Diverter Valve and let me tell ya ..... what a difference!!

I have access to a pit, so it helps but it's a tricky little mutha to do, but I urge any of you without the
06H145710D to go to your local TPS and get one ..... I feel like I've got a different car!

Anyone in the Chesterfield/Sheffield area go to the Sheffield TPS .... they are really helpful and seem to be
a really good, professional bunch of lads.

It has brought the smile back to driving the Golf !!

If the difference was that noticable it must of had a massive tear. Might had when I did mine some time ago now.

I'm changing mine this weekend. I have had the Revision D for a few months now in the glovebox! Just haven't had the time to fit it!!

I've scanned my car about once every month for the passed six months and the frequency of this valve fault is unreal! Also the car is more and more hesitant and you really have to thrash it to get anywhere!
So looking forward to getting my boost back too!

How long did it take you to change it over?

I did the job using a pit, so was not as good as using a lift!

Tools required - 5mm allen key socket and small ratchet, 5mm allen key.  I would advise to wrap a rag or something around the bracket for the oil-level
sensor wiring as it's sharp and you'll cut yourself to ribbons on it!

1) Take off the connector plug
2) Loosen all the 3 bolts (the one at the top you cannot see is easier that it first appears with an allenkey socket and a small ratchet.
3) Remove old valve (mine fell to bits on removal) - refit new one - there is a little 'pip' on the face of the valve to ensure the correct orientation when fitted - basically the electrical connection points downwards.
4) Refit all screws tighten in sequence and refit the electrical plug....
5) ... ENJOY!

Mine had a great big tear in the diaphram and was obviously costing me boost and fuel economy ... drives like a different car now.

Is this the MK6 DV your talking about?

Wondering whether to do this or the forge one.

It's for the MK5 and a standard 06h145710d.
