Forge Spacer

Hi Guys,

Just gauging everyones thoughts on the Forge Spacer. I have one ready for fit, can't find any detrimental reasons not too, just a noise maker and I like/want the tissschh noise, one reason for having a turbo...

But understand they are a bit chavvy for some, just wanted peoples opinions...

I have got one on mine, Caused no problems but it dumps all the time, will be removing it when i fit my downpipe as i get a nicer dump sound through my intake.

Go for the twintake instead, nice noise, and you can tell it is actually doing something.
If you want silly noises in your car then get a Mr T talking keyring

im thinking about getting one too. i love the sound and always have and for me apart from the power its why i love turbo cars. Theres alot of people on here who are really against them but its each to there own and personally feel everyone is entitled to there own ideas thoughts and purchases so go for it mate. Let me know what you think once its on

i've read somewhere that the engine is designed to recirculate the dumped gases, and that the BOV hinders performance? until this is refuted by someone i don't think i'll be getting one. i do like the sound tho. with a DV relocation kit and the adaptive BOV i'd definitely consider one (so that i can switch it off easily for motorwasy journeys and the like and get maximum pose factor the rest of the time)

Completely irrelevant to someone's personal preference concerning sound or the engine management system's requirements for valve function.....
.... whether the air is vented to the atmosphere or recirculated is completely irrelevant to spool or any amount of “lag” supposedly created.

A valve exists in a turbocharged system as a failsafe against such a thing altogether.

"Lag" would only be created if there were no valve in place at all, and the residual charge air inside the intercooler piping "backed up" into the compressor wheel at throttle lift slowing it down.

Whether an atmospheric or a recirculating valve is used to discharge the residual pressure, either valve is still able to vent at throttle lift allowing the compressor wheel to maintain it's rate of speed, thus preventing any reversion of pressure and inducing any “lag” or having an affect on spool.

The discharged air being recirculated back into the intake side of the system will have absolutely ZERO affect on spool as opposed to an atmospheric setup.

The intake side of the system is under constant vacuum vs. actual atmospheric pressure (altitude), so the only arguement that could be made is that the vacuum effect acting on the discharged/vented air somehow keeps the turbo spinning faster than if it's vented to the atmosphere. 

There is ZERO empirical evidence that one setup is more beneficial or detrimental than another in relation to compressor wheel speed.

If the use of an atmospheric valve is possible without any negative side effects concerning the engine management system of the application, as is the case on this vehicle, then it becomes purely a matter of personal preference.

Exactly, the mk5 DV valve is simply a bypass valve not a recirc valve like on 1.8t 20v engines where the airflow is re-monitored after the DV.

Hence the reason why the DV on a MK5 is electronically control and not vacuum controlled.

Only thing I worry about is it drawing contaminants through the holes(and I have a K04 when it's placed at front!)

haha i just bought one to give it a go. for £25 even if i dont like it, im not going to lose sleep over the money

I've got one on my ed30 and love it  doesn't sound chavy to me as it makes a massive chatter! Doesn't sound like the mk4 1.8T ones wich just go psssstttt, sounds ace and gets pepole looking, even make pepole jump 
Got mine from the forge shop on eBay for £25 and it's the best mod I've bought for the money

Does it work with the oem Rev D DV? - I'm sure that I read somewhere that it wasn't compatible.
