Anyone used this on the dreaded inlet valve problem?

Found this on Halfords site and seems to work very similar to the 3M stuff from the US (detailed in the other thread)

Whats everyone's opinion on this and do they think it will help clear some of the deposits off the valves if spray into the inlet manifold whilst the car is running?

id also be interested to know peoples views on this as always contemplated trying it.  :popcornsoda:

My local halfords had something similar produced by Wynn's? - IIRC this is the stuff VW have on the TSB  :confused:

Its called "Direct Injection Power 3" Inlet Valve Cleaner - you spray it in the intake (or through the PCV inlet) and it cleans the valves. Have a look on ebay mate :happy2:

Its made for Direct Injection engines like ours - I think the Cupra Boys are using it

That looks clever, not sure what that port is the redex is going into though?

I'd have used the PCV port on the right

Can anyone confirm that this method of 'injecting' redex into the inlet manifold is successful?

Is that some sort of port in the middle of the manifold that they're injecting through?

Just tried the above redex method tonight, There is a sensor directly above the throttle body that need to be taken out for the pipe to go in.
I used electrical tape to ensure a tight fit (and my son's football pump adaptor :P) to get the redex into the intake manifold,

Just remeber not to rev the car and once the car start to struggle pull the tube out of the redex,

So far results seem good, certainly no adverse effects. The car does not seem any better but didnt expect it to as it is just a maintainence procedure.

Only downside i have found is disconnecting the sensor pulled up a fault code but cleared on my Liquid 2 so easily fixed.

In all well worth a try as it can only help and only took me ten mins and the a good spirited drive to clear the car out afterwards.

Oh and another plus point is Redex is on offer for £2 at Asda at the moment. :happy2:

I did this a few months back using the air temperature sensor port too. Just make sure you use a football pump adaptor to limit the flow. I can't say i 'noticed' any difference but i never checked the state of the inlet valves before or after the event. Be warned though, you may experience quite a bit of white smoke from the exhaust for a couple of miles afterwards  :laugh:
Also it is advisable to change your engine oil afterwards. Snowfoam is generally used over in the States, but it is not easy to get hold of over here.
