G is the latest revision for the tfsi D is for the newer TSI engine in the scirocco and new gti.  Its not designed to fit or listed for our engine, the new engines have a different turbo.  It apparently fits but i'd be worried about any long term side effects of using an incorrect part

They don't tend to on the ed30 engines as they are positioned in a cooler part.  If it does fail, the g revision is pretty bullet proof

Wow. Was about to ask where the DV would be in my car (in the 'remove the engine cover' thread). I noticed that because it had the Audi logo on it. No idea it was the DV. Damn, should've taken note.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Lol have a read of my thread where I tried but failed to remove the engine cover. Today I successfully managed to remove it.

I peered at it but didn't what anything was. I was going to post on here asking about where the DV was.

When I was looking at the engine I saw the pic you posted and remembered seeing it in the engine bay. I thought it was strange that there was an Audi logo (four circles) on the box. At the time, I had no idea it was a DV.

Now I have read your post, I realise what I saw was the DV.

Clear?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Sorry to correct you, but G is same design as C, it's D that's the new design with a solenoid instead of rubber membrane, i have both a C and a G just to clarify my knowledge

You misunderstand, what i was saying is that G is the latest for the gti engine code.  Yes it is a rubber membrane but it is now very robust and will quite happily run stage 2 all day long.  The New D DV is for a different engine.  The fact people are installing a part designed for a different engine and not listed for the gti is crazy IMO.  The key is in the part number which is for another engine code.  If a dealer logs in the D revision logs a fault on the engine that it has an incorrect part fitted.  Just clarifying my knowledge
