If you go back to them Andrew they will just tell you a load of rubbish mate, I don't think its a massive job to change yourself

No, I'm sure I can manage it. It's back with them on Wednesday so we'll see what they say. If they say it's anything but the DV then I'll be very skeptical. If they do suggest the DV then I think I'm entitled to them doing the labour gratis.

Will do. As if wrongly diagnosing a fault wasn't bad enough, they snapped my oil filler cap in half, and failed to mention it!

And how right you were. They had the car for an hour to day and now claim they need to for another half day.

I asked if they had checked the diverter valve and this was their response - "when you say the diverter valve do you want to show me what you mean"

I proceeded to show them where it was and they said it might be at the front of the engine. I said that only happened with the K04 cars.

I've ordered a new DV, so hopefully I'll fit that at the weekend. Hoping the warning light won't come on between then and now.

It was the first time I've used an independent garage. I've always taken it to VW Huddersfield and never had any problems.

Getting really frustrating now.

So far I've had the N80 Solenoid Valve replaced, and the N249 Diverter Valve replaced. Sitting in traffic this morning at idle and the light has came back on, probably 10 miles after changing the DV and having the system reset. Again, no noticeable degradation in performance and fuel economy.

might be an idea to out with someone with bag com and do some tests on the lambda and maybe the maf to see if all is as it should be

Getting tempted to bang it into VW now Mat - hopefully I've at least narrowed it down for them.
