88Y or 92Y? HELP!?!?
« on: September 10, 2011, 11:37:49 pm »
Hi,

My Bridgestones are 225/40 R18 88Y's but the research says the facelift golf has 92Y tyres... I only wanna replace the two fronts? Ok to have 88Y on rear and 92Y on the front?

It's just the load index right? So confused right now...

you should have 92y on--if you have the wrong spec tyres on and you have a accident the insurance company can knock your claim

96 is a higher load index so should be fine. W is a lower speed rating at 168mph but doubt you'll be going that fast in the snow/ice!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

most snow tyres are a lower speed rating which is fine, long As you inform your insurance but some company's classed it as a modification and put the premium up :stupid:

It's not a mod and the ABI as advised people to complain to head office. Lots of people ot a refund on the premium for the "mod".

Nope - you should have gone back and complained.
