There's a few videos on you tube showing how its done for removal but most people tend to suggest taking off the whole bumper and joining the 2 halves and then re fitting  :drinking:

No need to remove whole bumper. Start at one end and clip it in one by one.
When you get to the middle you'll need to put your hand/fingertips in behind the upper bumper from underneath to offer some resistance.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

I completely removed mine and fitted to 2 halves in the comfort of my garage, reaching up would have posed a problem for my ham fists, getting between the bumper and the rear armature!!

The entire job took less than half an hour.  :happy2:

Don’t know if this helps as it is really for fitting the R32 rear end which iv just done, it looks really daunting but once you get to grips with it its surprisingly easy. Really helps to have 2 people to lift the bumper off.  :happy2:

thanks

i did something else in the end, for some reason theres four screw holes for the number plate, so i used the two that wasnt being used and put a long screw in them, pulled forward on the screw and then pushed on the valance.
