How to retro fit a VW DAB aerial
« on: October 15, 2011, 11:42:59 pm »
There seems to be very little info on this even on a google search on other VW forums. Someone must know the answer.

As far as I can tell there are 2 ways that the DAB worked as can be seen on this link.

http://www.my-gti.com/2742/aerial-information-for-volkswagen-golf-mark-vi

One is an extra wire that goes to the "Right aerial module -R109-" from the head unit and the other is a different roof mounted "Aerial -R66- with DAB radio reception"

Does anyone have more info on this retro fit?

Thanks

Well first of all... after a chat with my new best friend :) ... (A guy I found locally that retro fits VW RNS510, DAB, etc etc) ... it sounds quite easy to retro fit the DAB aerial to the golf so I'll do a little write up with parts etc when I do it.

...but for now... I took the plastic casing off one of the FM aerial leads (the white one) and popped that into the DAB plug on the headunit and it works... sounds perfect.

Hi there. Been looking everywhere from some info about fitting the RCD 510 with DAB. So are you using the FM aerial as the DAB receiver? How's the reception? I've been reading around and nearly everyone seems to say that a separate DAB aerial is required. Thanks in advance!

Hi.

sorry i should have updated... It didnt work.. It worked sitting on the drive but as soon as i drove it the signal was cutting in and out all the time.

Saying that... i've now connected the aerial to the fm inputs correctly and that is cutting in and out as well now. I think my car has the diversity aerial so not sure if this is working correctly with the rcd510 headunit?

still yet to get dab working.

assuming your using a RDC510 dab if you hold the setup key down for 10sec, you can select the aerial input and the signal level is displayed alond with if its any good.

the diagram above is for a diversity sceen aerial :surprised: do you not have a whip?
