whats best....
« on: February 24, 2012, 10:12:57 pm »
i been talking to a mate at work saying  how excited i am about saving for a gti.

he got a focus st!  (keeps trying to sell me it but NAAAAAA) and he was saying his friend got a golf gt 170 and it beats his st?
he said i should get a  mk5 golf gt 170 then remap it upto 200bhp.

i already got mk5 golf with high milage and its remapped to about 210 bhp(roughly)

now, do i get "another diesel" or go for the petrol gti?

diesel got loadsmore torque yeah but im not sure what to go for now

help!

Hi mate,I had a mk5 gt sport 170 tdi remapped to 201bhp with loads of torque... it's quick but not in the same league as a Gti.....but u do get pretty good economy out of it(around 400-450miles to a tank)

it just feels weird getting the same diesel  car again but a few years newer, rather than a proper gti.

gti more luxorious i think?

I would say it is all down to mileage. I wouldn’t want to run gti if I was doing loads of miles, but I only do 20 a day so not a problem.

Get a GT 170, fit a hybrid turbo, this will be knocking the door of GTi stage 1 bhp but the torque will be HUGE!!!  Exterior wise just add the GTi rear valance front spoiler insert and side skirts.........  :drinking:

When I was looking to buy, my heart said GTI and my head said 170 4motion.

I looked at loads of GTIs but never found a 4motion worth travelling to see.  I still wonder what I'd have chosen if both had been available, but I loooove my GTI!

Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW.
Full list of mods:  Seat inserts and a VW bottle opener.  Each worth 20bhp.
