as long as it follows these rules: http://www.regtransfers.co.uk/main/car_numberplates_regulations.asp

then it doesn't matter if it's pressed or not.

dubmeister are the common name in legal pressed plates, but they're a bit pricey from memory.

Car audio security.com

You can pick them up from most shows, usually at least 2/3 stands doing them... jus make sure they have the BSU Mark in the corner..
If you're having Audio problems i feel bad for ya son... I've got 99 problems but Bass aint one!

Optionally, number plates may display one of the following national emblems: British Union Flag with “GB”, English Flag (St George Cross) with “ENG”, Scottish Flag (St Andrew Cross) with “SCO”, Welsh Flag (red dragon on green/white field) with “Wales” and “Cymru” or Euro Flag (circle of stars) with “GB”. If the Euro/GB configuration is displayed, then the bearer vehicle need not display a separate “GB” emblem when driving within the EU.

No D allowed.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

MOT Rules are that as long as you have front number plate with white reflective background, & yellow reflective on rear, with black lettering of correct font & plate is correct size, it doesn't matter how the plates are made or of what materials, pressed plates are not illegal if the above stipulations are adhered to.

No D is allowed, must be Euro/GB if any.

ENG with st George, SCO with scottish flag and welsh, n. Irish variants are allowed (was ment to be legalised years ago, not sure if it ever got put through but they are allowed) but when you go abroad you must display a GB sticker

These are still allowed, at one point they were MOT fails but not anymore.
