gti to ed30
« on: October 21, 2011, 07:07:22 pm »
currently driving a manual golf gti for the last year with revo stage 1 and love it, but always wanted  ed30, planning on getting one very soon, Has any one on here gone from a gti to a ed30 and wish the had not, due to more turbo lag or other reasons, thanks in advance

If your car is running perfect wouldn't it work out cheaper to "upgrade" yours to Ed30 spec - colour code, new alloys, etc?

did this mate a few years ago, although a mapped GTI is definately more punchy at the very bottom of the rev range although a mapped ED30 could never be considered laggy IMHO. I recently drove my mates stg2 GTI and was really impressed how grunty it was, I think if it was me it would be down to how much to change that mattered the most

Have to agree with a few posts on here, the S3 is a great car but its not worth £2-3k more than an edition 30, i had choice of both and test drove both and preferred both the look of the Ed30 and the interior, then again im not one for paying over the odds for a "Posh Golf"

the ed 30 i am considering has also been mapped , I was just woried bout a lot more turbo lag, as i love the way my gti drives, do not feel any lag at all, my gti is a 2005 model and even though it has covered 99000 miles it drives like new, and uses no oil, engine is a 1, the ed30 i am looking at is  2007 model with much less milage, so thought it would be a good upgrade as i always wanted one,

I can understand why you're looking to change as yours is approaching the 100k mark, is it worth £5k to change though as you'll be sat in an almost identical car and £5k lighter?
