Brake pad wear
« on: October 25, 2011, 02:45:20 pm »
Had my Eddie serviced today, all fine no surprises thankfully

I asked them to check my brake pads as I've done 30k since owning the vehicle and have never changed them since I bought it, so assumed they must be getting low! Not sure when they were changed prior to me buying the car?

However they tell me I still have 50% left?

How long do OEM brake pads last on average and when should they be changed to maximise the life of the discs?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

mine's got 45k miles and as far as i can tell has never had it's pads or discs changed. i'm slightly surprised, esp considering that i drive an auto - but i've got some IAM experience and i don't tend to touch the brake pedal very often and drop gear to get some engine braking.

this fact hasn't stopped me getting an NQS BBK tho as i think the standard braking on our cars is a little crap :signLOL:

on 61k and there is plenty meat on the pads yet.  Problem is I've been advised one side of one of the discs has some slight corrosion so may have to change them all anyway.
