MK5 Golf GTi spec query ***NEWBIE!!***
Hi all,

I'm currently a BMW man driving an E46 325 sport.. but I'm looking to get myself a MK5 GTi.

Coming from my BM that has things like parking sensors, MFSW, auto climate control, armrest and trip computer as standard I'm finding it difficult to get a GTi reasonably priced that has the spec I want.

So my question is..

What were standard on a MK5 GTi?

I want:

Xenon's
MFSW
parking sensors
climate control
highline trip computer
arm rest

Also would like sat nav and 18" Monza's aswell as heated leather but wouldn't be devastated if I couldn't find one with them factory fitted.

Also another query to be cheeky..

Was privacy glass and colour coding (bottom of bumpers and skirts) options??

Thanks in advance
Mike

You don't want much do you Mike  :signLOL:

I'm sure the email you have received will give more detail, but the spec you want is quite extensive, and all options I believe  - although if you are up for retro fitting they can all be done, (although defo go for Xenons).

AFAIK colour coding only came on the edition 30, but again not hard to get done if you wanted on a standard GTI.

I'm sure there are cars out there with most if not all the spec you want, just going to depend on your budget to be honest.

All the best with your searching, and welcome  :happy2:

Well I'm not really bothered about parking sensors...  :signLOL:

Too be honest though I really would have thought things like armrest, multifunction steering wheel etc would be standard options on a car that cost £20k new!

You can tell VW and Audi are in it together these days

I was like you - I had a list of needs and a list of wants.  I travelled hundreds of miles to see seven or eight cars, made phone calls on a few more and discounted dozens on autotrader & pistonheads.  But my patience paid off, and it was mostly fun looking.  There are some cars out there with fantastic spec - probably the dealer's "demonstrator" - more likely personal runaround!
The best advice?  Never buy the first one you see.

Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW.
Full list of mods:  Seat inserts and a VW bottle opener.  Each worth 20bhp.

I was the same but its a little easier here as the mainland spec includes the highline, arm rest and cruise control.

i wanted leather, DSG, xenons and a sunroof on top of that, on a Golf that wasnt black!

didnt happen, bought a black one with no sunroof, but all the other options!

That's another requirement I forgot.. I don't want black or silver!

I've never liked silver cars and having a sapphire black BMW has put me off black for life! Looks amazing after it's been cleaned and polished, looks crap the other 99% of the time!

Have a look a vwcruise (google it), for OEM retrofitting.

I've also previously had a 325i sport E46, and know what you mean about a good standard spec.  I'd been looking around for a few months for a spec that didn't seem to exist -

Silver or Black
5 door
MFSW - Can't believe how rare this is
Heated seats - cloth or leather (got cloth)
Xenons
Arm rest
SatNav
18" Wheels

Eventually found what I was after, minus the nav, so will be getting that retrofitted.
2006 2.0T 5 door GTi
Silver, Xenons, Heated Seats, Cruise, MFSW, 18" Monzas, Lux Pack.

I've changed what I'm looking for now..

I have seen a lovely Alpine double din touchscreen with Nav so notneed for OEM nav or multifunction steering wheel!

After owning BMW's for the last few years I can't live without an armrest though  :signLOL:
