What to go for?

Out of interest can you put a diesel clutch in? Take higher torque?

sachs or helix.

both will do the job, go for helix if using on track and sachs if you use the car as a daily

Personally i have experience with the Sachs uprated with single mass flywheel.
I won't recommend it as it can't shift at high revs and can't take fast shifts.
We have one "of the gang" running Helix, he's not that pleased with that one either.
We have one that have had southbend stage 4 clutchpack, not very happy with that either. (Southbend is Sachs clutches)
DxD clutches is the same as Southbend which is the same as Sachs.
So i will try Clutchmaster next, haven't heard any bad things about them yet. From what i gather they make their own clutches.

Over the top mod list ;o)

My main concerne is the kit handling the additional torque a stage 2+ adds and looking at figures now the helix one seems to be lacking but as you say if I am doing a 1/4  mile and can't shift in the higher rev range with the sachs, what good would that be to me?  mmmm confused.com! At least I am of the understanding that the sachs kit can handle the additional torque though and is recommended for street use day to day and helix more for race applications.

is your existing clutch showing any signs of failure?

I went from stock to stage one around 40000miles, then stage 2 around 48000miles then stage 2 + at 50000miles.
I only recently went back to stage 1, i'm just at 60000miles. My clutch still works as per normal, No issue's I can say at this stage.

Do people have issues with fast changes on Sachs / OEM DMF?, this is my setup and although I havent done any 1/4 mile days I havent noticed an issue with fast changes.  My idea of a fast change though may differ to you track / drag whores  :ashamed:

SteveP hasnt complained about the helix setup?

I have the Helix Clutch on my stage2+ Ed30 with the DMF.
It's covered 12k and has been perfect for road use, it has a higher torque capability than the Sachs equivalent.

Think it would cope with track day , 1/4 mile use?  Fast shifts etc

http://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/southbend-silent-single-mass-flywheel-clutch-kit-for-vw-02m-6-speed-tdi.html

I have ordered this ,It has a heavier SMF than helix/sachs/clutchmasters  ,hope that will cure the fast shifting ,when i return the OEM clutch it shifts smooth on any RPM ,ploop in the helix ,work good in all gears expect 1st going to 2nd ,imposible to fast shift it ,so think that the SMF is just  too light on the helix and thats what is causing the problems

Southbend DXD!! That is the boy. Takes all the abuse in the world. Fast shifts/slow shifts, 1/4mile, Track. Go as big as you can 1st time and it will be a while before you need to go again. Stevie.
