The stone chips on my bonnet and wings have been bugging me for a while so thought I would have a go at repairing them. This is the first time I've attempted anything like this
I filled the chips with paint from paints4u a couple of days ago and then feeling brave, thought I would tackle the wet sanding today! I haven't got a pic of the chips but here is a shot of part of the bonnet during sanding:
I used 2500 wet & dry paper over the handle of a small paint brush.
Once I had finished sanding I washed the bonnet and wings and set about polishing the sanding marks out. I've got a Megs G220 polishing machine and started with Megs Speed-Cut Compound (95) on the sanding marks. Once they had gone I went over the whole bonnet and wings with Megs Dual Action Cleaner/Polish (83) or Megs Speed Glaze (80), I can't remember which I used! After this I waxed the panels and was left with this:
I'm very pleased with the outcome. I can see a couple of chips which I haven't sanded and a couple that could do with a bit more paint, but for a first attempt I'm happy
I got the Megs products with the polisher so I'm guessing there are probably better ones out there but thought I would give them a go!
