Milltek Non-res cat back...
« on: October 26, 2011, 11:06:05 pm »
Hi guys, recently got my Eddie back after getting the clutch packs changed :pomppomp: under warranty. All I can say is wow! - the car is even better than before and is now what I always wanted it to be. The changes are now lightening fast with no jerkiness or hesitation  :pomppomp:

Whilst it was away getting the work done, I was missing her terribly and was on this site literally all day, everyday being consoled by all the banter.

Now the bad news... you've all brainwashed me into having a little tinkle with the car. Damn you all! Lol.

Thinking of getting a milltek non-res cat back, possibly from AMD. Think the standard system is a little too quiet.
Read a few of you have them fitted. Can I ask, are they too loud and droney or raspy at the right times whilst being relatively civilised at cruising speed?

Cheers!

Do it! You will not regret it. I did and it sounded pretty much perfect.

Not chavvy whilst just driving at normal speeds, but when you put your foot down they just make a nice noise :)

Thanks for your input guys, think I'm going to bite the bullet and have one fitted.

Oh well, that's £500 out of the Xmas kitty. On the bright side its an early Xmas pressie to myself? Yeah I like the sound of that  :signLOL:

I did say I'd keep the car completely stock... famous last words!

As Charlton Heston once said "Damn you all. Damn you all to modding hell!!!  :P

I've also read quite a lot of feedback on the Milltek. I keep hearing how quiet it is . I was in the middle of ordering a non res Milltek catback, but I want to know its not too quiet. Another thing putting me off is the tacky looking clamp on tips!

Thanks for your input guys. Already ordered my non-res milltek and getting it fitted at AMD on Sat. Can't wait  :drinking:
It sounds exactly what I'm after, nice and Fruity when I want it and relatively subtle when pootling. My days of super loud exhaust on my old mk2 escorts are well and truly over (as fun as it was setting peoples car alarms off as I drove past)  :signLOL:

Will let you know my thoughts when I've had a play in it.

Already ordered a megs clay kit and autoglym hd wax... think you guys have finally broken me!!!  :signLOL:

I saw another picture of the 80mm tips and the inside of the tips were perforated . Yours look smooth and clean. Are they specifically for the ed30?
On another note, are the DSG farts more noticeable with the nonres Milltek, and do you get any pops and crackles in overrun?

Only if your lying on the floor can you notice them. There not meant to be seen.  They actualy give you a cool option of setting exactly how far you want the pipes to stick out. Best ££ i have spent so far

I suppose if you span the clamp around so the nut is on the bottom that would make it almost invisible.  :happy2:

Is the tone if the exhaust deeper the stock and how does it sound when you step on it ?
Another thing about the clamp on tips. They remind me people with old bangers who clamp on chrome tips to try and make it look like they've got a sports exhaust! I'm thinking of going for the Jetex system, just wish there was a little more feedback about it.

If you tuck the pipes in, like I have and not stuck out like in the photo, then they are less visible .

Stop making excuses rich why you shouldn't buy a Milltek , it's inevertable  :signLOL:

..........x2. Had the old style fixed tips on my last one & there much better. It's the one thing stopping me getting one for my ED 30. Might call VWR & see what style they use.
