golf edition 30 or audi s3 bare with me. pos eddie found?

Its hard work aint it neil im looking at eddies for 12K or S3 for £13.5 to £15K  so possibly a grang or two in my back pocket for mods,

I also agree there is desperate need for a decent s3 OC  or ill be buying a eddie to stay on this site had a warm welcome and some very help comments, I need to find some S3 local to get some test driving done, took a GTI the other week and i was impressed very smooth and nippy big thumbs up.

Neil let me no how you find the s3 once you test drive them.

Yeah gaz has owned both but I think the ed30 was too much of a hand full for him     so he went for safer s3  
But they are both great cars and you can't go wrong with either

As Mat very kindly pointed out, I've had both and they are both great cars. If you are going to mod beyond stg1 I would go for the S3 every time, once over that 300bhp mark the 2wd does really struggle to put the power down in anything but perfect conditions and we all know what the weather in the UK is like.

S3's seem very expensive for a hot hatch.. However I suppose they do also hold there money very well!

I'd love an S3 but I think if my budget could stretch to £15k I'd get a BMW 335i 

Where as an Edition 30 at around £10-11k for a good 'un would represent better value IMO

As far as I am aware the S3 has a larger intercooler and injectors and obviously is mapped by Audi to accommodate this.  I think the internals are also upgraded to cope with the extra power/torque but not 100% on this but they are certainly different to the standard GTI internals.  Another thing I'm not sure about as I think it depends on which S3 engine spec you look at, the S3 may have a different cams or at least a different intake cam again this may only be in the later CDL engine??

I'm sure someone will confirm the above or otherwise.  Both cars will give a great deal of pleasure and it is a tough choice which most people would love to have the dilemma.

pretty much neil ive got more just want to keep some money saved for morgage pot, and i agree seems i can get a very well specced eddie or a higher mileage S3, seen a few eddies for about 12k.

Well all been looking at S3 and Eddies today and i think im going to stick with the original plan and go with the eddie i love the look exterior and i do like the interior the seats are very nice and confortable.

seen one advertised of 13.5K red eddie full miltek lowered and amd remapped,  and with low miles on a 2008 that is some serious low mileage.

search for a nice spec continues with the s3 out of the picture i think.

Found a Eddie 2008 with 9000 miles on is this too good to be true? The chap selling said its just not been used looks real clean.

Well if its a year newer than mine and half as many miles as mine then it will be more like new. Mine with 19000 has 2 stone chips that you couldn't find only and no other signs of it being second hand apart from the usual pescara kerb dinks. I hate low profile tyres !
