Mirror switch

Does anyone know if i can use a folding mirror switch on a car without folding mirrors?
I know it wont make the mirrors fold but will the other functions work?

I've got the chrome mirror switch with the standard mirrors and mine works fine :)

What other other functions can the folding mirror switch perform. I'm confused.
Surely if you don't have folding mirrors it wil do nothing?

The switch has the heated side mirror option. Think he may be referring to that option...
