« on: October 28, 2011, 10:30:23 pm »
Hi Guys, just had a itg maxogen fitted today on my gti ko3,can anyone help me out regarding the sound of it ie you get the obvious chatter but it sounds like it has a supercharger fitted from 1500rpm and makes wooshing sound, basically is this normal if so its quite annoying. i always thought that there would be no major noise until you were at higher revs or am i wrong. i hope this all makes sence lol thank you in advance Dougie

HI mate, this is normal for the ITG and the reason im buying the Forge twintake as its quieter and nicer looking, although the ITG gives best performance gains but you get all the noise with it im afraid.
There are some good reveiws of both on the Modified section, links below.
I dont like the noise these days (Im 38 lol, maybe im growing up?) so for me the twintake gives good power and quieter and im also getting the RESONATED milltek turbo back for same reason lol.

Hi Stevie, you will need to take me a spin in your s3 bud soon as possible please :driver:,or come a run in mine, cause im not quite sure if the noise im getting is standard lol.it sounds like a supercharger from the moment i touch the fast pedal. the over all chatter is fantastic not a problem, but the initiall sound of air hissing out mmmm not convinced m8. :notworthy:

You probably won't appreciate this even though I did repent and offer it to you  :ashamed:

The Forge is hardly any quieter than the ITG.

I had the BDM which is almost the same and now, as you know, I have the Forge.

I would actually say it is just as loud with the same whoosh, chatter and, I believe because of the design of the canister and intakes more engine noise as it kind of amplifies it.

I am not actually sure that the ITG gives more power either as somebody else said and also for the same person the Milltek Resonated is apparently quieter than the OEM exhaust. Save your money and get the Pipewerx downpipe to standard. Nice and quiet until you give it some beans!

\Listening to youtube clips the Non res sounds a lot noisier than the Re version, maybe different in real like, but only commented on what i hear on youtube vids, res for me.

I am hi jacking the thread now so last post but have a chat with BCS because they can possibly add/take away silencers to make it sound how you want. Their exhausts look amazing quality and cheaper than Milltek. I am 39 and yes I was worried about sounding like I had a Fiesta SuperSport (remember them?) with a piece of scaffold pipe for an exhaust but the Pipewerx is perfect. I will be getting the BCS in the New Year though.
