Nitrous can be safe in small amounts and with the correct mapping etc.
A few of the new minis are using it with no problems :happy2:.

Found a mk5 gti with nos.

Apparantly running around 340+bhp
That thing wheelspins for fun, would be  to drive on anything but a drag strip

hit the nail on the head luca.
NOS was traditionally used to eliminate low rpm turbo lag. These days on modern turbo engine lag is all but minimal.
The GTI boost comes in so low I dont see the need for NOS at the bottom end.
In fact it would make the car less driveable with immediate low rpm torque just spinning wheels...
However with a progressive controller , I do see a need for top end HP  :happy2:

I can see a huge benefit for BT guys though to get up to the spool point quicker

Isn't NOS illegal to use on the public highways anyway?

One of JBS's old cars had NOS and was running just over 600bhp.

Progressive NOS installs are much better for the engine than the "one shot" systems. With progressive NOS the amount of NOS (and hence extra power) is built up over time and only when the pedal is past a certain point on the throttle. 50bhp to 150bhp systems are the ones which are readily available. :happy2:
Golf R gone.

i got offered a NOS system by a local bodyshop, the owner had just removed it from a TT.... I just stared blankly at him until he scurried away and left me alone  :chicken:

when done well NOS is very cool, but best left for the straightline muscle boys with drag addictions
