Had the car in dealers today '' carried out GFF, fault found on knock sensor, carried out test plans and updates and reset as required, customer to monitor ''
so light is out now but they don't seem confident that its going to stay out with the comment ''customer to monitor''  :scared: hopefully it will

I was speaking to my Mother yesterday. She had a similar problem with her 09 Golf GTD. The fault light was cleared twice and on each occasion she was told it was nothing to worry about. No parts were replaced, and it hasn't returned since. She was told it was a frequent problem.

Hopefully it stays out for you mate.

I'm going to drop into a local independent place on Friday so I'll let you know what comes back from that.

I'd just filled my tank with optimax <10 mins before so thought i might have a bad batch, might have been a coincidence

This is an interesting point. The garage looked at my car last Wednesday and reset the fault code. At the time it was filled with Sainsburys Premium. It has stayed out until today when it came on shortly after putting £30 of Tesco Momentum in. I'm also fairly confident it came on at first after I started to regularly use Momentum.

Particularly this one -

The more I think about the more my problems correlate with my use of Tesco Momentum.

Regardless, is does suggest that fuel can be a factor to consider.

Yes I agree , previous owners of my car could have been using supermarket fuel, I have only had it 4 months. and it was the knock sensor that had a fault, is the knock sensor the thing that changes timing or something when different fuel is used,

Just as an update on mine, I got 'EVAP Emission Control System Incorrect Flow - P0441-002 Lower Limit Exceeded'.

Went to Deutschtek in Glasgow and it was a tenner for readout and reset. He told me it was nothing to worry about and to pop in for an investigation if it does return.

First time I've been in there but was very impressed with their knowledge and will consider a service there.

It might have already been mentioned on this thread, it's certainly been discussed on the forum before.  If you 'brim' the tank full when filling up it can cause a fault requiring a new charcoal canister.  :happy2:
