can any one advise on how this is done on a leon cupra. i guess its pretty much if not the same as the golf

I don't think there is a service life from VW on the coolant. I thought it was just top up as required i.e. after a cam belt change etc.
ED35. Standard factory condition.

i need to change my thermostat housing as a pipe snapped off from there so id imagne i will have to drop the coolant unless there is a way to stopp it all comming out?

Nothing lasts a 'lifetime' - not even G12++ !!!

A full coolant change should really be done every 5 . . . 6 years max.

And use de-ionised water from Unipart centres or similar.
