Luckily mine wasn't too bad to do. I believe it is a minefield in regards finding the right panel that will work. It is plug and play but you have to swap 2 cables over so it keeps the memory after the ignition is turned off. You can get issues where the AC compressor doesn't start or cuts out after a few mins depending on panel/ecu combination. I tried 2 different panels, an ER and a BC which is the one I have settled for. Both worked fine but with the ER one being newer it would flag a 'missing messages' error. This is something to do with the way it communicates between the other modules in the car. The earlier BC panel doesn't flag this. The only one I get is an air quality sensor fault just because it isn't there but can be retrofitted at a later date.

Hi Matt,

I have a mk6 ER climate control that I want to install in the car.
Exactly what cables did you swap (A,B,C Connectors?).
Your car is 2008, right?
No issues with the climate control till now? Does the air vent above the dash still work?

Cheers!  :notworthy:

Hi Rex. I followed this guide ----> http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4938269-OEM-MKVI-Climatronic-on-a-MKV-on-a-RNS-510-Screen-installed

I just swapped the wires of 16 and 20 around. I decided to cut and resolder as the wires are of a different thickness so even if you release the pins the will not go back in the other plug. This was only in the A connector.

Yeah mine is a 2008 model. The ER panel was the panel that gave me the 'missing message' fault although it seemed to work fine. I settled for the BC panel. The only fault I get now is because I don't have the air quality sensor connected.

No issues with the BC panel. Everything works as it should. Hope this helps mate  :happy2:

Hi Matt and thanks for the reply!  :notworthy:
I saw that thread (a a few other ones) but I though that for your car it was easier (the car in that thread is 2007).
Did you do the First and Second Step (as described in that link)?
I have some spare A, B and C connectors and I saw that wire 20 has a different plug but it seemed to be of the same thickness with the rest (unlike 19 for example). I also think that cutting the wires is the way to go since modifying the plugs is much more complicated. Did you leave the original pin 20 unplugged?
I also have the air quantity sensor but I think installing it will be a complicated job. I'll see how it goes...

Only a quick update of my little parts pile that are waiting to be fitted. Hella Xenon look headlights which arrived today, smoothed grill panel and rear footwell lights in the package  :happy2:

Where did you source the headlights etc from and how much were they ?

Basically all I did was do the pin swap and then the initial set-up using the button presses it describes. I basic settings step worked for me but doing step 2 didn't do anything but all works fine.

I didn't leave 20 unplugged. You only need to do that if you are thinking about connecting the AQS as this is the power cable for it. I'm the same, I have the AQS and know it location but the idea of being upside down in the footwell running cable behind the dash keeps putting me off  :signLOL:

It was through a chap from Germany. He does have an ebay shop but you have to message him direct for the RHD versions. Can't remember off the top of my head but will try dig some info out for you  :happy2:

So the other day I was at Donington and got the chance to break my track driving cherry and took the dirty diesel for a little spin. Track temp was very warm so the Hankooks went all chewing gummy meaning I had zero feedback or confidence in them haha. Enjoyed the experience overall though.

Here is the video albeit very unspectacular and rather quiet due to my external mic adaptor sh*tting itself.

Yeah that would be possible next time. The camera and suction mount is set up for my brother's track car which is stripped out there is nothing obscuring the view. This is fastened to my sunroof which sits slightly higher anyway and I didn't have any extenders with me.
