why do we like our own farts?

Morning folks,

bit of a silly Friday thread but its been at the back of my mind for years. After accidentally dutch ovening my GF the other night in bed, it did make me ponder, why do i tolerate (even like)  my own farts that reek and strip the paint off the walls but when ever someone else farts, i cant stand the smell - even though it probably doesnt smell anywhere as potent as mine???

Probably because you've been smelling your own farts since you were a child. Probably similar to why you can't tickle yourself with your own fingers.

but my farts differ (lie everyone elses) from day to day depending on what i had for tea!!
