Engineering places in North east for exhaust milling?
« on: November 05, 2011, 07:09:11 pm »
Got my car back today after engine rebuild, had them fit the milltek exhaust I had welded up, back on the car.
After a total bill of £3300 with new turbo etc, I though my car would actually be fixed, until I heard the exhaust blowing slightly. Garage I had work done said they had just finished fitting a new gasket, and hadnt driven it since, but noticed that it was blowing.
I rang around and eventualy managed to get it into the local tyre fitters to get the downpipe swapped over. 3 hours later they managed to fit the downpipe, had a look at the milltek, and nice to see it had been well butchered by the welder that had done it for me.
So basically, does anyone know of anywhere in teh north east where I can get the flange milled down so its flat again, so I can get it back onto the car!!

They proper f*cked that up.  I could get it done but you are miles away or I keep new flanges in stock when I make custom downpipes that you could replace the damaged one with.

If it was machinery flat then the flange would end up being quite thin so it would need hammering back as flat as possible before hand.

Ass exhausts :signLOL:
They broke it in last night, then when I got there this morning, they had just lowered car off lifter after fitting new gasket, so not their fault really, they told me exhaust wasn't right, but hoped new gasket would solve it.

Your right Alex, the bloke made a nice job of that :drinking:. I might see if the local powerflow place can put a new flange on, might be easier!

If you have any problem getting a flange then give me a call.  If no one wants to weld it up then you can send it down and I can do it.  I would tig weld it and the flanges are 316 grade stainless.

Remember to get that new engine ran in nice and quickly with an oil change within first 50-70 miles.

I'll see if they can do anything with it then Dave before I get it sent off to BDM. The garage  ran it in for me with running in oil, then changed after 50 miles.
I did some datalogging today, not revving it much though, and had no timing pull whatsoever!!!!!! first time ever on my car  :drinking: :jumpmove:

Also, if you do need it welding then I have a tig welder and can weld a new flange on. Can even purge weld it for a super nice finish, will only take 30mins to do. Don't have any flanges though.

Well it was bolted down when he welded it, I saw it? I think hes been a bit happy go lucky with the grinder when hes dressed the welds.
I'm going to see it it can be sorted out before I try to get a new flange welded on. The bloke had a nightmare as it just kept cracking all the time, so new flange will be the last resort!
Didnt notice your car there andy :stupid:
